Who can resist the mouth-watering smell of grilling foods? Picnics will be everywhere: in the yard, in the woods, in the beach, and anywhere sunny. But who says that picnics are only for summer? Almost every home around the world owns a grill so that cooking outside will always be an option whenever family and friends gather on a sunny day or under a balmy night. Watching the stars while listening to sizzling of foods on the grill will surely stir the palate of everyone in the barbeque party.

Picnic grilled foods need side dishes to make these outdoor meals complete and satisfying. Parboil the seafood ingredients to remove fishy smell. Canned seafoods will shorten the cooking time. Use the non-sticky and long-grained variety of rice.

Ingredients:

4 cups cooked rice
1 cup whole kernel corn
1 cup cooked green peas
1 cup whole almond
1 cups squids rings, skinned and washed well
1 cup clam flesh
2 cups shrimps, deveined and shelled
1 salmon or tuna, flaked
¼ garlic, minced
½ onions, coarsely chopped
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 Tbsp oyster sauce
¼ cup vegetable oil

How To: In a non-sticky wok, saute garlic in hot oil until golden. Add in onions. Stir in squids and clams. Simmer for about 3 minutes. Add salmon or tuna flakes. Simmer for another 3 minutes. Place shrimps on top and cover. Cook until shrimps changed color. Pour oyster sauce and sprinkle salt and ground pepper. Add corn, peas, and almonds. Stir to blend well. Add enough amount of water only when needed. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Fold in cooked rice until all ingredients are combined together. Remove from heat. Arrange the long strips of red bell pepper on top as garnishing. Serve hot or warm with any grilled meat dish.

<a
