style="text-align: justify">The summer season is something to enjoy. Most people prefer picnics to create a bonding experience with family and friends in a lazy Sunday afternoon. For menus, corn cobs are often included. The usual corn recipe will be something related to butter and grilling. Before starting on your corn menu, there are some things you need to consider. First, you have to choose something of quality. Of course, you don’t want anyone to be munching something out of juice and poor flavor. Well, additional flavoring may have some delightful effect, but relying on its natural essence is truly the best.

How to Pick Corns in the Market

As you visit supermarkets, you’ll be welcomed by products that are promised to have great quality. However, you already know that this doesn’t happen most of the time. There are still some unseen products that acquire low quality because of its abundance and quality inspectors can’t handle everything out. It’s the same case when you look for corns to grill in your family picnic.

★ If you’re concerned about color, you’ll find most corns to be whitish yellow although some are really yellow. This color variation may be based on the place where it is planted and harvested. You should pick one that’s refrigerated because warmer storage let the corn’s sugar turn into starch.

★ In some markets, you may find some corns unrefrigerated. If that’s the case, make sure that the corns are stored in a much cooler storage and out of direct sunlight.

★ As you pick corns, you should take a look at the corn’s husks. Make sure it’s fresh, moist, flowering.

★ You don’t want to buy something that’s not ripe. By pulling the husk of the corn, you’ll know if it’s ripe – the kernels are plump and tightly arranged in rows.

★ Press on a kernel with your fingernails. You’ll also know if the corn is white if it squirts a white milky substance – this means that the corn is ready for eating.

★ Some vegetable products are inorganically grown. For corn, you can always ask the store keeper or market crew if it’s grown organically. Corns that are grown in a natural environment often taste sweeter than mass produced one’s.

Corn recipes are often chosen in picnics since it’s cheaper and easier to prepare. From grilled to salad recipes, corn has been invading family picnics for years. If you’re sick and tired of the usual grilled corn with butter you prepare for your family and friends, this recipe is perfect for a unique taste of corn cobs you love to prepare.

Mexican Style Corn flavored with Lime, Ancho and Cheese
<p

A picnic outing requires some food to be cooked at home and taken along with you. Making the decision of what dishes shall be made is not that easy as it might seem to be. The foods that you take along should be suitable to the weather, your taste and to carry. In summers, particularly, such food needs to be made which do not rot quickly and are tasty and fun to eat too. Also, they should be easy to make and should be a source of energy so that you can have maximum fun without getting tired soon. We suggest some of such dishes which keep you going and are very easy to make or bake.

Boiled salad

Ingredients

peas 1 cup

red beans 1 cup

potatoes (medium size) 3

oranges 2

beetroot (medium size) 1

salt to taste

sugar 1 tsp

black pepper ½ tsp

white pepper ¼ tsp

cream ½ cup

Procedure

Wash all the fruits and vegetables properly with water. Cut the potatoes, one orange and beetroot into small pieces. Boil peas, beans, beetroot and potatoes separately and put them in one bowl. Add the orange, peppers, sugar, salt and cream to the bowl. Mix well. Then put in orange juice of the other orange and mix again. Tasty boiled salad is ready. Refrigerate for some time for increased taste. Especially, when you are going outing in summers, you should well refrigerate the salad before packing it. This would keep it fresh for a long time. Salads are a great treat for keeping you fresh and this is one of the best ones.

Cornflake macaroons

Ingredients

egg whites 2

sugar ½ cup

cornflakes 1 ½ cup

dry fruits (cut into ½ cup

small chips)

Procedure

Preheat the oven at 160 degrees. Beat the egg whites for along time until they froth. Then add sugar slowly. Don’t add all the sugar at once. Now add cornflakes using your hands (not a spoon) very gently so that the froth of the egg white does not get settled. Add the dry fruits along with the cornflakes. Oil a baking tray and put the mixture of the cornflakes and egg whites in the tray using a spoon. Take full spoons of the mixture and put it into the tray. Bake for fifteen minutes or until they turn golden brown. You may also add coconut additionally or in place of cornflakes. These macaroons appear very appetizing and taste great too. At a picnic outing, the sugar would provide you with carbohydrates (glucose) to keep you active and the dry fruits contribute in keeping your mind fresh. Cornflakes are a very good source of energy. So, this recipe includes all the factors which need to be taken care of at a picnic.

Both the suggested foods are ideal to take at a picnic. They can be easily made; all the ingredients are easily available and fill in you enough oomph to enjoy a lot of gaiety at your outing trip.

You are welcome to read :

<a

It is the perfect summer activity – sunshine, the great outdoors, good food, and even better company. There are a million and a half well known picnic food ideas out there that are all delicious, but the less-common ones are great too. One terrific example of this is a salad. When people talk about a picnic, they usually do not think of summer salads. But they can make a great addition to your picnic. This article will give you five summer salads that you can take with you to your next picnic.

Summer Salads #1: Cobb Salad

There are a ton of variations on the salad, but your most basic form comes with greens and an assortment of ingredients on top. A Cobb salad is one of the best summer salads because it is a filling meal in and of itself. This recipe is a basic Cobb salad with a little twist. Start off with a bed of greens. I recommend a nice Romaine, or another leafy green. Iceberg lettuce isn’t as nutritious. On top of this, add tomato (diced ones work best) and bacon (either in strip form or diced). Then, add a grilled chicken breast that has been cut up. You can also add sliced avocado, a mashed up, hard-boiled egg, and cheese of your choosing. The twist I suggest is adding Mexican-style four-cheese mix to the salad. Toss, add your choice of dressing (raspberry vinaigrette is my favorite for this one) and enjoy.

Summer Salads #2: Green Pasta Salad

This is one of my favorites because it combines elements of a traditional salad with pasta salad. Start off with a bed of butterhead lettuce (or Romaine if you can’t find it). Add a layer of Parmesan cheese. Then, add pasta salad. You can make your own if you wish, but for the sake of simplicity I recommend buying some from the supermarket. Once you have added the salad, pour on a layer of Italian dressing and then toss. The cheese and greens give you a traditional salad taste, and the pasta salad will feel cool and refreshing in a hot summer day.

Summer Salads #3: Delightful Fruit Salad

Not all salad has to be with lettuce. This salad combines some great summer fruits that will be a fresh addition to a picnic – especially if you are grilling out. I will give you my own recipe for this salad. Take a watermelon and cut it in half, lengthwise. Then, carve out a trough in the middle. This is where you will put the salad. I like to add an assortment of banana, apple, strawberry, blackberry, kiwi, avocado, and mango (with oranges if you want). All this is on top of watermelon, of course, which makes it better!

Summer Salads #4: “Cool as a Cucumber” Salad

A cucumber salad is a very simple yet delightful summer salad that is not difficult to prepare at all. Take a cucumber or two and cut them into long, thin slices. Then, take a red onion and dice it, and add this to the salad. Some people will just add salt and a dressing and leave it at that, but I think you should take it a step further and add chilled potato or chicken salad to the mix. Then, add a soft and sweet dressing – I recommend something with honey, like a honey Dijon vinaigrette.

Summer Salads #5: Strawberry Spinach Salad

Finally, of the five summer salads, this one is probably the easiest one to make. Take some baby spinach greens (fresh, not processed) and toss them in with almond chips and blue cheese. Then, halve strawberries and place them in the salad. For dressing, I recommend something light and sweet. To make a great homemade dressing, take equal parts oil and vinegar, add as much honey as you want (depends on how much dressing you want), include some sesame seeds, and whisk together to create a sweet dressing. If it is not sweet enough, feel free to add more honey or a little bit of sugar. Then, just take your dressing and pour it over the salad. I don’t recommend storing the dressing in the refrigerator, though; it will become creamy and will not taste as good.

There you have it! Five great summer salads for you to choose from. The best summer salads, though, are the ones that come from your kitchen, so feel free to experiment with these and others to create the perfect summertime dish for a healthy and fun-filled picnic.

You are welcome to read:

<a

If you do, then I bet they involve lots of great picnic food and even better conversation and excitement. If you have not gone on a picnic before, though, it is still okay because now you have the opportunity to make your own memories for you and your family.

While there are a million places you can go, and a million things you can do, picnic food is still the centerpiece of any successful picnic. This article was written to give you some more great summertime picnic food ideas that are perfect for any outside outing.

Picnic Food Ideas about Cooking

Many people have asked if they should cook beforehand or just bring foods that can be prepared once they get to the park, the beach, or other picnic site. Honestly, whether or not you cook beforehand depends on the picnic food recipes you want to prepare. If you are taking a short trip, and want to cook beforehand so you get the most amount of time at the picnic site for fun, then I recommend cooking at your home and bringing the food with you. If you plan on taking your time, though, and are not planning anything too complicated in terms of picnic food ideas, then you might want to prepare your food there.

Of course, you can do both if it suits you. One picnic food idea is to marinate your hamburgers, steak, or chicken so it gets the most flavor possible before taking it to a grill. So, once you get there, all you have to do is put the meat on the grill, watch it sizzle, and enjoy. If this does not suit you, then sandwiches are always great for on-the-spot preparation.

Picnic Food Ideas about Grilling

Should you decide that you want to grill out at your site, then you will need a few supplies. If you are using a campsite grill, or are bringing a charcoal grill, then you will need a good supply of charcoal. For most outings, one full-size bag should be enough. (Don’t forget the matches.) You will also need tools for cooking. I recommend a flat spatula, a brush (for basting), a pair of tongs (for flipping food), and a two-pronged fork. A knife and fork also won’t hurt either. Tinfoil is another great item to bring for covering up your meat once it gets off of the grill to keep it nice and warm.

One picnic food idea for grilling is to make shish-ka-bobs. A shish-ka-bob is easy to create. All you need are skewers (thin wooden sticks) and your food. I recommend steak, potatoes, tomatoes, green peppers, onions, and whatever else you want to add to it. Just grill these items as appropriate (except for the tomatoes), cut them up into bite-sized pieces, and place them on your skewer in an alternating fashion. There you are! A great tasting shish-ka-bob and a great tasting picnic food idea.

For more mouth-watering picnic food ideas, just search on the internet or watch your favorite cooking show during the summer. Picnics are some of the most pleasurable events we can have, and are capable of bringing great joy to you and your friends and family. There is just something about a hot summer day – or night – that just makes eating outside worthwhile. In this article, I will share with you some great picnic food ideas for either a daytime lunch or a nighttime dinner outing.

Picnic Food Ideas for the Day

So, you are outside during the day, perhaps during a nice lunch break. The wind is blowing, the sun is shining, and you and your family and friends are out at a park. What should you eat? The key to an awesome daytime picnic is to have foods that are light and cool. Since this is the hottest part of the day, you want to keep cool if at all possible. Also, eating a heavy meal will probably make you and your guests too sleepy and full to enjoy the rest of the day! With these things in mind, here are a few picnic food ideas:

- Sandwiches: While sandwiches seem to be the stereotypical picnic food, you can spruce them up and make them interesting. Instead of using plain old sandwich bread, put them on croissants, onion rolls, foccacia bread, or other types of bread that are delicious and a bit different. Also, try and replicate your favorite sandwich from a local deli, except make it how you truly want it. One other thing you can do is bring a bunch of condiments and sandwich ingredients and let everyone make their own for added fun.

- Fruits: In the sweltering summer sun, few things cool the day down like fresh fruit. Prepare a tray of fresh fruit sliced up and ready to eat, complete with various types of dip (such as flavored whipped cream). Watermelon is a very popular picnic fruit because of its taste and its high water content (over 90%!).

Picnic Food Ideas for the Night

If you decide to wait a little bit longer for your fun outing, and want to have a picnic in the late afternoon or early night, then night picnic food ideas are for you. Since your picnic will very likely be dinner, which is typically the largest meal of the day, you can serve heavier foods and larger dishes. This is a perfect time to grill out, as long as you have enough light to prepare your food and (safely!) operate your grill. If it is cool out, you might want to even bring hot treats that can be warmed by a fire. Here are picnic food ideas for you:

- Barbeque chicken: Chicken is basically a universal food. One of the more popular methods of preparing grilled chicken is to barbeque it. Grilling chicken is easy for anyone, regardless of how much you have grilled before. To prepare the chicken, find your best combination of herbs and marinate the chicken overnight in a refrigerator. Then, baste the chicken in your favorite BBQ sauce while you grill it, for at least 10 minutes. You will know when it is done when it is completely white and juicy.

- Salad: Salad is one of those foods that can be eaten during the day or during the night, but since you are eating a full meal at night, it complements the night perfectly. There are several types of salad that you could make. A garden salad is made of just vegetables, while a chef salad typically has meat in it. A Caesar salad has romaine lettuce with caesar dressing, parmesan cheese, and croutons, while an Asian salad is similar to a garden salad with mandarin oranges and rice noodles. All of these types are delicious.

If you cannot decide between day and night picnics, get the best of both worlds and have both! Pick a daytime excursion one day and then head back another day for a nighttime outing. Good luck and good eating!

You are welcome to read :

<a
