The Asian world has made several important contributions to the western society, but amongst the most important ones (and delicious by the way), we should mention its contributions to the culinary world. Every day thousands of people in the U.S alone get to enjoy the pleasures of the Asian cuisine, from take out at the corner’s restaurant to more gourmet food at expensive Asian restaurants. In fact, it would be very difficult to find somebody who hasn’t at least tried any of these delicious foods, as satay per example. Picnicking, however, is a very American tradition. If we wanted to combine the best of these two worlds we would have to come up with the Asian picnic. As you read along this article you will be introduced to some Asian picnic food ideas.

If you want to surprise your friends, or just change the picnic menu that you have been using for a while (for ever for some people), you may want to try the barbecued Asian pork chops. This very tasteful dish includes easy to find ingredients such as orange juice, soy sauce, garlic, chillies and of course pork chops. Mix all the ingredients and add them to the pork chops, refrigerate them for a few hours and then cook them grilled or in your oven. Now we need a salad to go along the tasty pork chops Asian style. Our recommendation is the Asian noodle salad with roast beef and soy-ginger dressing, even its name sounds delicious, don’t you think? This salad include the following ingredients for the  Soy-ginger dressing, 1 teaspoon minced root ginger, 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar, 1/2 tablespoon caster sugar, minced 6 tablespoons soy sauce, 4 tablespoons vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, 2 medium garlic cloves 1/2 teaspoon red chilli flakes. In terms of the Pasta salad you need thinly sliced 75g chopped roasted peanuts, 3 medium carrots cut into strips, 4 spring onions, 2 tablespoons salt, 4 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander, 300g rare sliced roast beef, 1 red pepper peeled and julienned, 300g bean sprouts, 250g broccoli florets and 300g packet free range egg noodles. Isn’t your mouth watering already? Just to top that off, we will include Chinese egg rolls to our picnic menu. To prepare this dish you would need the following ingredients, 1 boneless, skinless chicken breast, and for the marinade a pinch of cornstarch, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and salt and pepper to taste. Also use 3 tablespoons water, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon cornstarch, 1 small chopped onion, 14 – 16 egg roll wrappers, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 1 minced garlic clove, 1 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms, 1 red bell pepper, 4 cups oil for deep-frying, 2 chopped green onions, and 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water to seal wrappers.
